My two cooking demos were Southern Style Vegan and 5 Ingredient Vegan. Each demo was packed with over 175 beautiful people, and everyone had a chance to taste the vegan goodies!
When I wasn't prepping for my demos or presenting, I was roaming the festival like a kid in a candy shop! I discovered my new favorite chocolate, Chocosol, and my new favorite kombucha, Rise. Neither is available yet in the US, but I made sure to stock up with plenty of drinking chocolate from the Chocosol folks. The stuff is liquid bliss.
I also ate tons of tasty goodies...they were so good that it seems I failed to take photos : ( Best dish was the jackfruit tacos from Hot Beans in Toronto. OoooWeee!
I also had fun watching the other chefs present, and tasting their crazy delicious food. I was in good company with Roberto Martin, Taymer Mason, Del Sroufe and Allyson Kramer. Little ol' me was the only one without a cookbook, but I left beyond inspired to give birth to one soon : )
Oh, and I got to meet the host of my latest obsession, Rich Roll of the Rich Roll Podcast! He signed my book, we chatted, we took pictures and now I'm rockin' a #plantpower t-shirt like a true fan.
Check out the photos below : )
One of my #plantpower heros Rich Roll. I honestly just got into him a month ago when I discovered his amazing podcast, but now I'm hooked. I love his book Finding Ultra, and am even inspired to give running a try...
My new favorite kombucha is Rise from Montreal. Flavors include ginger, lemongrass, hibiscus, rose szichandra and–my favorite–mint chlorella. I drank so many this weekend : )
Me and the beautiful, talented and inspiring Taymer Mason of the blog Vegan in the Sun, and author of Caribbean Vegan. This woman taught us to make some bomb ass vegan "ham". Never had real ham in my life, but this stuff was super tasty! It was made of homemade seitan!
Me hanging with Taymer, Nadia and Susanna
Me and Vala!
More Rise Kombucha. See, this stuff makes you high on life!
This is albino cacao from Chocosol. One bite of that stuff and I was in love! Never even heard of it before. Boy do I want to be a Chocosol intern.
Oh oh oh! Here I am on a festival program with a bunch of vegan bigwigs! AHHHH!
Presenting to a packed room on Friday evening. Southern Style vegan! I had to bring my Georgia roots to Toronto. On the menu, BBQ Tempeh Collard Wraps with roasted sweet potato, carrots and red cabbage. For dessert, raw peach cobbler.
This was my 2nd plate from Chef Roberto Martin's demo. The tastiest veggie ceviche I've ever devoured.
This was a cinnamon bun. mmmMMm
